My I ask a question? Are good manners important to you? Or are you bad mannered and just don't care?

We were taught to respect our elders and have manners at the table as well as in public as well. People who spit gives me such a pain, those who eat smacking their lips like a horse and talk with food still in their mouths give me a pain, people who cannot say Please or Thank-you riles me, people who beg, borrow and steal irritates me and last but not least People who has no consideration for other road-users, steal your parking spot etc etc ohhhh don't even want to say it. People with bad-manners should be taken off the road and sent to schools where they teach you manners. My prime hate is when i open the door for someone or move out of the way when walking the dogs to the extent that i am walking in water and mud and they don't even say thank you really gets my goat. Thats it my gripe for the day.:)))

Good manners are very important. You can be the richest or poorest person in the world and, as long as you have good manners people see that and ignore the circumstances.

In some countries, and I'm not going to name them, manners are a by word. For example I went to one country last year, and they did speak English here, and I was holding open a door to let my family through. Two young boys just barged right in, said thank you, but theree was no sincerity in the words. PLUS they had ther cheek to push past 3 w2omen without a second glance.

I did reprimand them but they just didn't seem to see the reason why I had had a go at them.

So, good manners are the biggie with me. Don't take people for granted and they will treat you in the same way.

Generally yes, manners are important to me, but not to the extend of letting other people walk all over me just 'cause I'm being nice! You gotta find a balance between being nice and generous & standing up for yourself.

Also a few rules in manners & etiquette are a bit outdated; for example that a man should always hold the door for a woman. If I'm in front, I hate it when a guy cuts in front of me just to hold the door! This is 2007, first *person* to arrive hold the door for the rest, or whoever isn't holding anything holds the door for the person with his/her arms full... sometimes I prefer practicality over manners.

Good manners are very important to me I believe they make life much more pleasant. And, to be honest I tend to feel superior when people are bad mannered around me...not a nice trait, I'm afraid. The more bad mannered they are the more polite I become.

I think good manners are important. I am a waitress and I really hate it when you put someone's food down and they don't say thank you. Maybe I'm stupid but it does really bug me! Or when you hold the door open for someone and they don't even look at you

People without good manners are pretty much sociopathic. I mean, who doesn't care about offending someone or hurting someone? Only people who don't feel the pain of others, which is a mental disorder.
