It is Because of their mind set "not to understand". All of us or most of us are believers, but how many of us have realised the existence of the supreme, the be all and end all of everything! Still we are under the process of sadhana or practice and we may at an ultimate stage may, be filled with his grace and blessings. Untill such time we believe. There is a saying in Tamil. "kandavar vindathillai, vindavar kandathillai", to mean that you become spellbound once you are touched by the supreme Lord and there are no words to express oneself. Even Einsteen the great scientist has not disagreed the existence of a cause for creation of the cosmos.
To be an athiest, It is a fashion!.

This is a world of duality and opposites. Just because a person or a so called atheist disbelieves the existence of god or prayer does not cancel the existence of god. The people who have tried at prayer are the the people who have not tried it enough and scoff at it. As i was saying in the previous question love , tolerance and compassion take us near to god and god has created us in his or her form and the world is dual, and full of opposites to give it a balance in the same way i treat the so called non believers. To each his own opinion. So god or a supreme being is not a subject matter of debates , heated discussions and rationalizations. It is a matter of experience.Today if we see the awareness of god and prayer and culture is 1000%manifold when compared to say 40-50years back. Every body today is searching for a way out of stress, to experience, peace and tranquility and to enjoy a contented life.The more the trappings of money , power, sex the more people are realising the utter futility of them. Because the bottom line is contentment. Without this there is no serenity,peace of mind and enjoyment of life.

atheists believe that for anything and everything there must be a logical reason and feel that the "BELIEVERS" do not have a logical reasoning for their believes and therefore the atheists feel that any one who does not follow a logical reasoning is a below the average minded person and therefore they look down upon believers as idiots or below average.

Atheist feel inferior next to us,so they look down on us in a attempt to fight off their feelings of inequality,most anytime a person is intent on downgrading a person,it is because that is the only possible way they are able to upgrade themselves.Another word for it is Jealousy,who can blame them for acting and feeling that way about believer's,I'm sure I would feel the same way because look at what they have,everything that does not exist for the atheist,does exist for the christian believer.For every negative there is a positive and we all know who gets the abundance of the positives, who wouldn't be jealous,so all of us believer's need to pray for them,so they can reap the positive side of life also.

Because they cant focus on higher things especially the presence of the ultimate in their lives. so they can only but look down upon their fellow human beings. They cant look up for they are mean and lack sufficient followers.

Belivers look UP to God !
Since Atheists do not believe in God, they have no business looking up.....They also cannot look straight, since although they call themselves atheists, they are actually constantly tossing and turning between the ideas of God and No-god..... (with a tossing and agitated mind you cannot look straight for long !) Hence they have no other alternative but to look DOWN. And when they look down, whom do they find there ?? Who else but the believers !!
Believers are anchored to the Ground. Their houses are built on firm foundations.
Atheists constantly roam Up in the sky. The move from idea to idea.....Until they finally realize That One Idea !!! (They have no house, and if they have, they are built on shaky foundation....)
Now clear? Why Atheist look DOWN on the believers.....From Up in the Sky to Down on the Ground !!!!!!!!!!!

It happens the other way too!!!! Atheists may have a reason though. They tend to to use their brains (in general) to come up with scientific and novel solutions to life's problems and do not cite some obscure text in some religious book as a reason or surrender without any efforts (God's will).

An atheist is basically a non-believer,an sceptic.He is strong believer of non-believing.Yet he is believing on something called scepticism which he is unaware of.Therefore,when he comes across a believer, starts loathing him as he is contradictory to his belief i.e., non-believing.
