Actually, enlistments are up from peace-time normal numbers. However, with the expanded end strength of our current operating forces, the difficulty lies in meeting the HIGHER than normal numbers that are required right now. The Air Force for example, which has gone back down to End Strength, is having absolutely no problems meeting recruiting goals and is actually helping other services to meet their recruiting goals.

There had been a decrease, but then the military revised its age limits. It opened the military to people who are older and since then all branches have been exceeding quotas.
