I am on Methadone, and have been for years for Severe Chronic Pain. However it does no good anymore as I am *use* to it. At first it helped a great deal, now it is like taking a baby Aspirin. I have to see my Doctor tomorrow matter of fact, and she is thinking about taking me off, (slowly) and pitting me on Morphine. Going from bad to worse in my opinion, but I am not a Doctor. It is also used to fight withdrawal symptoms for Heroin Addicts to ease the cravings. Hope this helps.

Both of my parents were addiced to methadone. It is a horrible drug. My mother was on it to fight her other additions but I must tell you she went to that clinic everyday to get her dose even if she had to walk 20 miles that is no lie snow ,rain ,it didn't matter and she died 2 years ago tommorrow at 42. Also my father was on it for chronic pain and he died the year before also at 42. So if someone you love is on it please do your best to get them off it. I have seen some terrible things happen to others that are on it now that stuff is no good and breaks up family's. The worst part is the person who is addicted doesn't even realize what they are doing to their body and they don't care until it's too late.

I am bitterly opposed to Methadone. All it does is legitamises drug addiction. It gives a safety net to the addict that removes their motivation to get clean. Why bother when you can just sup a little Methadone and get about your business.Methadone is a ticket to a lifetime of addiction.People kid themselves that if they take Meth that they are no longer addicted to Heroin, the truth is that they are only ever one missed dose away from being back to full scale addiction. Most addicts fall into a routine of selling the Meth to buy Heroin and often only use the Meth when they can't score,or take the Meth to get them out of bed so they can get in a good days shoplifting and then score.Advise your friend to just sweat it out,it's the fastest way,in the long run it's also the most successful. You have 2 weeks of misery and then you have your life back! Methadone sends you down a long road to years of misery.Don't do it.
