About the furthest distance I can hit with my driver is 130 meters. I only weigh 50 kgs., so can't expect to hit as far as the men, but I would like more distance. On my iron shots too. Have only been playing for 18 months, and had several lessons from pro's, but nothing seems to go right when I am on the course. My shots are usually straight - so with distance I can improve my handicap.

It's always great to hit the ball a long way but take heart from the fact that you're hitting it straight - that's more important. You really need a pro to look at your set-up, back swing etc. to see if anything can be improved there and also to check you have the right clubs. There are so many books on golf instruction but one that's often recommended is Ben Hogan's "Five Lessons - The Modern Fundamentals of Golf" - see if it works for you. I'm sure it will all click on the course for you soon and over time you'll be striking the ball farther.

The easiest way to learn golf like a pro is by following "The Simple Golf Swing" program. It's primarily a 31 page eBook that teaches golfers how to make solid contact with the ball, how to avoid hitting fat, how to avoid slicing, how get more power, accuracy, and consistency in your swing. Consistency being the number 1 golf skill.
You not only get the eBook though, you also receive a ton of extra material including video, lessons on putting, driving, chipping, sand play etc. Here is their official site: http://www.golfswingguru.net

Doesnt matter your weight.
I play with a ten year old who is 4 ft. and can hit it 225 yards.
Its hard to help without seeing your swing in person but I bet if you increase your swing speed you WILL increase distance.
It has been determined by testing that for every 2 mph increase of your swing speed the ball will travel 40 feet further.
A typical femal who swings 70 mph should be able to hit the ball 175 yards

I'm 14 years old. I weigh 35 kgs's and I drive over 210 meters.
Buy a Momentus Power Hitter: http://www.momentusgolf.com/products/phitter/index.asp?bhcp=1
For you, get the lady Power Hitter.
What it does is it makes your timing perfect and it's heavy so your normal club feels very light. It makes you acelerate at the right time in the down swing. The video comes with tips from one of the longest hitters in the world.
I use it and I gained 15-20 meters.

There's lots of good advice given in these answers, but it all comes down to swing speed.
Swing speed comes from proper technique and good tempo. Some things I can suggest are to make sure you do not collapse your left arm on your backswing, turn your shoulders and set your wrists. Swinging through the ball, make certain your shoulders and hips rotate properly and complete your followthrough. It sounds like very basic advice, but it still works. Practice and good luck!

Can I suggest (unfeminine though it may be) building up muscle strength, since you don't seem to have natural timing. For forearms, you can do the old brick on a rope exercises, winding the rope(say about 2ft long) around a piece of broom shank and lowering again-the slower you can do it, the more effective it will be. Then for the triceps, you can do dips, like they used to do on superstars, or if you are up to it, push ups. You can also build up you thighs by ski type exercises. However, have you looked at the flex on your clubs?.It would seem you could need a less stiff flex.Best of luck!

Size has got something to do with it but technique is everything. I was warming up for my lesson the other day and these two little asian girls started to warm up as well. I had 4 inches and 20lbs on those girls, and thought I was gonna totally whip em. NOT. Turned out they were on the national team (Singapore). My advice is to go back to your pro and work on perfecting your set-up and swing mechanics. This will smooth out your tempo and your swing speed will increase. If those little girls can do it so can you.

develop a coiled body in your swing turn your upper body but keep your lower body in the same place this creates resistance and when you uncoil releases a lot of power.
did you know that one swing of a driver in golf takes more enrgy than it does to start a car.
