"Dr. James Luther Adams, my ethics professor at Harvard Divinity School, told his students that when we were his age -- he was then close to 80 -- we would all be fighting the "Christian fascists."
The warning, given 25 years ago, came at the moment Pat Robertson and other radio and television evangelists began speaking about a new political religion that would direct its efforts toward taking control of all institutions, including mainstream denominations and the government. Its stated goal was to use the United States to create a global Christian empire. This call for fundamentalists and evangelicals to take political power was a radical and ominous mutation of traditional Christianity."

Amen.=) The call for fundamentalists and evangelicals to take political power, to create a global Christian empire, 'spreading and enforcing THEIR word' is almost as frightening as a global Islamic empire.
What happened to the reason European Americans came to this country? (No slight on Native Americans intended.) I think immature personalities—selfish personalities—must try to make everyone identical to themselves. Any disagreement is equated with fear of punishment for being wrong—punishment from brutal parents, punishment from a 'god' written about by men thousands of years ago, who were clearly less evolved than we are, and some of whom, anyway, were clearly not inspired by our kind and loving God (for agnostics / athiests: if we have a kind and loving God).
The reason for freedom of religion and speech in this country came into being because—listen up control freak—SOMETIMES YOU ARE WRONG. Sometimes you don't know that you are wrong until years or even decades later! And then you think to yourself, "I am so glad that they didn't let ME be in charge!"

Any extremist whenever they cannot morally justify a given behaviour or ideology, invariably hide behind a Divine cause which, they claim to be the heralds. This is equally true of Christianity, Judaïsm and now Islam ! The views of your philosophy professor are at least 25 years old, the world has moved on but, this is not the exclusive fault of Christian fundamentalists.

There is hardly a creed which cannot be taken, by some, as justification for its imposition by authority or violence on others. From Christianity and Islam to those focussed on green or animal rights agendas.
So, the basic answer to your specific answer would be yes, but that doesn't mean there is something uiniquely odd or flawed about Christianity. Only human nature.
And worse, they could be perfectly sincere in their beliefs and actions, and the the necessity for them:
"Christians have burned each other, quite persuaded
That all the Apostles would have done as they did."
Lord Byron.

Dear Friend,
The Bible teaches us to:Matthew 22 36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[b] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[c] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
This means that followers of Christ should display an unending love and compassion to their fellow man.
The meaning of Fascist is:a person who is dictatorial or has extreme right-wing views.
This does not tie in, at all, in any way with the teachings of Christ, therefore a true follower of Christ would not display any Fascist behavior.
I hope this answers your question
God Bless

Luckily, there are so many variations on the theme of Christianity and so many power hungry christian politicians/evangelists that the in fighting will keep them occupied for quite some time.

I'm trying to think of some real christian fascists but I can't.If christians were really fascists why would they send missionaries to all corners of the world trying to convert people to christianity so their souls would be saved?
I know many of the people saying these things have a problem with christian missionaries but interestingly enough don't have much to say about Islams expansionism.
I don't know what mask you're referring to. Most christians don't hide their faith they try to share it because its their greatest gift.
