I agree and I'm female. This is the usual rundown for me. Dressing up for an expensive restaurant, guaranteed to have food I hate because my tastes are very simple. I'm a country girl. Mom & Pop Italian is fancy to me. Roses. Can we say overdone?! Too cliche. Chocolates. Okay, I'm a girl. When am I not going to like chocolate? Jewelry. No diamonds please. Why? Again, too cliche. And too freakin' expensive. I like, maybe even love, you. I don't want you to blow all your cash on me. I know how hard it is to get. I think Valentine's day should be about fun, not fancy. Fancy brings too much pressure with it. For the guy to make it fancy enough and for the girl to be suitably impressed by the fancy, even if she's not. And love should be something that's expressed everyday, not just once a year.

It's a holiday. Cheer up. People died today. Live your life in happiness, every day, instead of complaining about how people are making money on Valentine's Day.
Send someone a valentine, that you made yourself, not store bought. Send 30 people Valentines. If you don't have 30 peopel to send to, you need to shut off your PC, and get out more.
Good luck, and Happy St. Valentine's Day.

Dear Dan,
If you were INLOVE it wouldnt be a "waste" you would honor your lover!
Obviovious your jaded and bider so get a check up from the neck up and find someone knew or rediscover your current girlfriend...
If your not happy dump her this Valentines day!
Reclaim yourself and "love yourself again!"
Its obvious you havent been happy for a very long time and your looking at life through "ugly"googles" whereas life is beautiful and I wish you only the best for 2007 and hope you can change your lense this year GOD BLESS YOU DAN!

It's pretty simple. Valentines Day has been increasingly promoted by the card, flower, and confectionery industry engaging gullible women in their efforts to sell more and more useless crap.

Everyone's unspoken expectations are so high. It is nerve wracking for me.
