My girlfriend calls me when I am watching a movie. I told her that I would call her back when the movie was over. I turned off my mobile phone and charged it. So my girlfriend calls back and leaves a voicemail. She calls back again and tells me that I considered watching the movie more important then her. I told her that I cannot be on the phone with her all the time as in 24/7. She said she wants me to call her back about everything—including going to the bathroom/restroom. I told her that everyone needs space—just to sit down, relax, stretch, watch a movie by themselves, and spend time with their family and friends. Is she trying to smother me?

She is smothering you. If either person in a relationship places the other persons "wants" above their own "needs", nobody will be happy.

Most definitely. She sounds needy as hell.

Tell her she needs to wake up to the fact that you have to live your life, and without her calling you all the time.

That or just don't answer the phone any more. Definitely the possessive / stalker type.

she sounds a bit paranoid and insecure, how long have you been going out?

you need to take some time to explain to her that you love her, but sometimes you just need a bit of time alone - not away from her, dont say it like that, but just away from everything.

be patient with her - altho the bathroom thing sounds a bit wierd..

I am afraid she really sounds possessive. She is obviously feeling insecure in the relationship.
