There are a number of installation files downloaded. Should I run the setup icon and modify them? Should I put them on a local harddrive? Should i include subfeatures? With I'm a bit confused because I thought I had already installed them!

The open office installer which u have downloaded, comes with compressed setup files(means setup under setup). when u install first installer(single file u downloaded) it will asks u to save extracted files, extract them. After that go to that folder and double click on setup file, this will start actual installer.

double click on the main installation file, it should start with something like "oo-..." and follow the screen prompts
