It is a good idea. I think right now the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, etc. have pretty well got that covered. But then again, not everyone can afford to be in the Scouts. I don't think it is something that they should spend a whole semester on but, yeah, they could do like a one week course or something. Something like natural disaster survival, kidnapping, or if you are lost in the woods, etc..

No, I think grammar and spelling are more important. Survival is taught in the Boy Scouts and the Military.

Taught in school, not teached, and it depends on what kind of survival you mean. There are heaps of situations that are going to require different tactics in order to survive.

umm what kind of survival?
How to survive if you get lost in the woods?
How to survive if you get caught in a hurricane?
How to survive if you are the only survivor of a plane crash?
How to survive if you are taken prisoner by terrorists?
How to survive your girlfriends period?
There are many survival situations people should be taught...especially the last one!!

Correct verb use should be TAUGHT in school. Survival is best taught by experience.
