My boyfriend and I have been together for a year and a half. He's 25 and I'm 21. We get along great, we love each other a lot, and are living together after a year of dating. We've made plans to move to a different city together, be in a band together (which is a big step as we're both musicians and are looking to make our band our career choice) and we've both met each other's families. everything's great but... He only brings up marriage in a joking way, and when I mention marriage he says "he doesn't know if he'll marry me, he wants to be more financially secure etc." is it that he doesn't want to commit, or that he just wants to let things happen naturally?

I think he is just making sure he can take care of you first. Some men are like that. If your sick of waitng ask him and see what he says.

Seriously, this is a good opportunity for you.

If you really love him, tell him the money doesn't matter.

It seems like he loves you but he has low self esteem, and is not sure that he will be a success, and he doesn't want to fail at this musician thing, and lose you.

Your are young, but you have a lot in common. Tell him how you feel, and how you have made your choice, and you don't care what happens, afterward, because you can get through it together. If he doesn't propose within 6 months after that, he's not commitment minded, and you should either accept things as they are, or move on.

You cant really change people, or expect them to change… usually in men it is a certain moment of clarity, a life event, that causes realization of the value of a relationship, if you love each other I would suggest you just let time do its thing.

You read his body language that is his gestures , his movements, his eye contact etc etc this study would give you more answers than what he is saying to you and by this you can come to a decision.

If you'll love him when he is broke and you both are begging for change... and you are content even in this because he is with you... It shouldnt matter
