Why is it o.k in the American media and entertainment to depict someone like jesus, god, budah and other holy images but when it comes down to poking fun at Muhammad-the all mighty prophet...American networks get scared. They don't depict him... who cares if muslims get offended, you think christians dont get offended when they see jesus in the American media being made fun of....

The media doesn't fear non-Muslim religions probably because religions other than Muslim don't send their children out loaded with bombs to blow up innocent people in the name of God.

Since Muslims seem to enjoy this method of behavior, the networks probably fear retaliation. But I agree with you assessment, the networks have no spine...

Sigh, since I'm a Muslim I have to explain this AGAIN.

Islam forbids any depiction of the prophet Muhammad. Islam forbids any depicition of God, any statues and such. Let say we are allowed to depict, we'll make a statue of God and some group of people would worship these depictions. But then, they'd be worshipping the items not God Himself. Regarding Muhammad, it's to defend his honour, he is our prophet afterall. Depictions of Jesus, see what happened. People could make fun of him, photoshop him, and all the bad stuff. Muhammad on the other hand was never allowed to be depicted. Even if you guys do try to picture him, it won't be close to what you'll ever imagine so blah. Islam is more of better safe than sorry, we wouldn't people to do all these stuff to our highly regarded prophet. Islam is different from Christianity, we are more strict around the discipline part, and therefore we wouldn't allow any depiction of Muhammad.

Basicly, we are more serious about it, that's it.

Peace out.

And by the way, making fun of your prophet doesn't justify us to make fun of our prophet. What makes you think that just because you guys can throw mud, step on, use as toilet paper, and everything else to images of your prophet, that we must do the same? Some nice religion you guys have.

You watched South Park tonite, didn't you? It was the family guy/Mohammad episode. I don't think we are afraid so much as cautious given the climate. American Muslims have peacefully lived in the US for decades, their religious beliefs aren't really a problem or a conflict. They are a part of our culture.

Probably they shy away from it as extreme fundamentalist Muslims abroad have no sense of humor or proportion and kill people over cartoons and films ...such as the people who killed Dutch film maker Theo Van Gogh for what they perceived as an insult. They just don't want people to be harmed.

Nobody in his right mind should be afraid of Mohamed; indeed why should they seeing that he is one of the recognized prophets, irrespective of many different religion. What the USA and elsewhere dread are those elated, exalted extremists who interpret the Quran in a deformed way to justify their hatred and violence. As long as political views, and extreme ones at that, are spawned in mosques in the name of world-wide Islam, and confusion and misunderstanding about Islam continue, I am afraid it will continue to have a bad name. It is not Muslims that are the problem but Islamists and hiding behind the Prophet Mohamed, in self-righteousness does not help matters.

Americans are not afraid of something they don't believe in. What they do believe in are the evil followers of this religion. It isn't Mohammad people are afraid of...it's insanity.

A sane person is able to laugh at themselves and look at their fallicies objectively. An insane person becomes violent at any provocation. It would be crazy of Americans to hit a hornet's nest with a stick as hornets are insanely possessive...it isn't the nest we're afraid of, its the millions of mad animals that live inside. Let's wait until we have smoke and fire and do this thoughtfully instead of being fools. This kind of battle takes slow meticulous movements with lots of planning and a lot less hitting.

I agree with you. We have freedom of speech and should be allowed to express it. If Muslims do not value such freedoms they need not move out but should not watch TV programs that have such content. Perhaps a rating system could be installed to warn Muslims of content that is not suitable for their beliefs.

I think we should all be game as long as it ends with words, not violence

'twas not written that no image of Jesus can be made, only God. 'tis written for our Muslim brothers that no image of their prophet be made, yet! Where doth thy respect lie? For a Christian the insult is a chance to showest the love that preach they! Shalt thou not turn the other cheek?

'twas not our Muslim brothers alone who go to war. Our Christian brothers also and before! Is it right to usest thou rights? NO, 'tis not right, for the Book of Romans maketh this clear! Canst thou not read? Hast thou not read Romans 14?

Ah, for the pity of the thumbs down. 'tis true that I do not subscribe to a god. As brothers shouldst we not live?
