The pink lady. They have a great staff of traditional massage as well as a pretty large staff of ummm not so traditional massage. If you walk up the stairs you'll see the fishbowl in front of you with the full service ladies, immediately hang a right and you'll walk into the massage only part. The massage only girls wear white pants with pink tops. The full service gals are usually in evening gowns.

The Sakura is similar to the pink lady, except not as clean, and not as immense.

The Lee Gardens Plaza has a great traditional massage shop, and the prices are great. If I remember correctly it was about $6USD for 2 hours of a fantastic massage. (no frills aside from maybe a prostate massage if you ask kindly)

The Regency just started a massage parlor, but most of the girls are seasoned masseuses(same as lee garden no frills aside from maybe a prostate massage if you ask kindly)

They are all over the place, and cheap enough that you can get 2 or 3 a day.

One thing I steer clear of are the reflexology stalls, the foot massaging people. Part of the premise behind it is causing pain on certain points of your foot cures ailments in other parts of the body. Note the word pain. The first time I tried it I made it about 5 minutes before tears started welling up in my eyes from the amount of pain this demonic man was giving me, and I've broken numerous bones in my body and not shed a tear. I thought maybe it was just this one guy so tried another one a few days later with an older woman, she looked so harmless I thought I was in for a treat. Ohhhh was I wrong, it was pure torture, I didn't even last 2 minutes with her jabbing a stick in the bottom of my foot. It hurt so bad I had trouble walking for 2 days. I don't know if the locals have iron feet or what, but this practice is just pure evil.

For massage my favorite place is the lee gardens, to the left of the Pink lady. The rooms are nice, the staff if good, and the price is right. Also a side note, if you want a great massage, tell them you want a great massage and you'll probably end up with an old lady whose pinky is the size of your thumb. If you pick one of the younger more attractive women, don't expect a killer massage, but also don't expect extras.

If you are into the freaky end of things, you CANNOT pass up a turkish massage at the pink lady. They give you a bath, then put you on an air mattress and pour hot soap suds all over you then proceed to give you a wicked massage using their body...their WHOLE body, its a quite nice experience. I haven't visited these places in quite some time(I do visit Hat Yai regularly though), so I can't attest to the quality these days, but I'd imagine it is still something you want to try once, or maybe twice, in your life.

And thx Peanutz for the heads up. I didn't realize that massages too close together would be harmful but it makes sense. One of the girls mentioned something about releasing the toxins from the system with the massage. I remember feeling like a freight train hit me after having 2 massages in one day, that could be the culprit.

x_ill has given you the lowdowns on the good places to go. Traditional massage is not that expensive, just ask around for the right price. And the good massage will relax you thoroughly. Just a word of caution. Usually the massage works your internal system, so let your body recover for a couple of days before having another. Over-stressing your body with too many massages can harm you. Even if it is cheap.

Enjoy.

Many hotels do have an inhouse massage parlour. Enquire within too.
