I saved up two grand to start my bodysuit. I know it's not enough, but is it enough to get an outline from shoulder to knee? I want to do the outline all at once so there's no dealing with broken up pieces. If anyone has gotten a bodysuit done or a huge piece that can give me some info on cost, then it be much appreciated. =)

it all depends on how much design there is and the tattoo shop, whether they have a needle fee, or a chair time fee, and plus you are not gonna want to sit there for all that from your shoulder to your knee, no one will work on you that long....just go and get piece by piece done it will end up being cheaper.

heather is right - you're not going to be able to get all that outline done in one sitting anyway, so it's going to have to be broken up into pieces no matter what.

most artists charge $100-150 an hour.
a full sleeve, for example, would take anywhere from 20-30 hours.
if you're getting a bodysuit all done from the same artist, they might give you a bit of a break though.
really, the best thing to do is talk to your artist. they can give you a much better idea of cost and the best way to do it than anyone on the internet can!

That money is probably enough for a very detailed sleeve or back piece. Cost is going to depend on a lot of factors including, who does the work, the amount of detail and the ink and supplies used up. Chances are you'll be charged an hourly rate which is usually $100-$200 bucks.

You shouldn't save up for the whole body, but rather save up and have it done in chunks. Start with the sleeves and do the back, then chest and so on. Obviously its going to take a long time to complete, so start now and just constantly add to it.

I think you can probably get your upper body outlined for 2 g's. Obviously, it depends how much detail. If you're gonna get a lot of background work, like flames or smoke or something you should have no prob. But, if you're trying to get something like the guy from prison break, 2 g's may only cover your torso. This is assuming you are getting your artist to work for only $100 an hour (even if they usually charge more, you may be able to get deal due to the size). It took about 20 hrs (including shading) to do my entire back and i think only about 6 hrs of that was outline... a lot of it being portrait work. good luck

it depends on your artist. i would think that 2 grand would be enough for a shoulder to knee outline. i am working on getting my whole back done and the whole back outline took like 3 1/2 hours. are you talking about shoulder to knee front and back? or just back for now? it definitely depends on the detail of your design and the speed of your artist. part of my design was fairly intricate with scales having to be done but a lot of it was straight lines and stuff. also my artist is pretty fast but he's good. if i had to guess i would say that would be enough but it does depend on how much your artist charges by the hour. good luck! what are you getting?

My lower right arm from my elbow to my wrist has a sleeve and it cost me $500. So keep saving. And I agree that no one would do that outline all at once.
