But I'm not clear on how their conception of them jibes with the Western versions. Where did the idea originate. For instance Buddhism speaks about H&H, but I'm not sure it's the same as the CHriatian one. Did the concept arise on its own and separate from the west, or was it borrowed sometime in the distant past?

Would not all peoples have hope of eternal happiness? Would not all peoples have fear of eternal torment? Yes, for the fear of death resteth in the hearts of all men! 'twas not by Christian invention, but by nature herself!

What makes you think the christians have ALLL the answers?

Let me say right here, I am a christian. But I'm sensible enough to realise that other people get brought up within thier own culture.
This brings about different beliefs.
I think God, Allah, Buddha, etc are all different anmes fro the same GOD.

After all isn't there supposed to be ONLY ONE GOD.

Heaven or Hell can be here on earth, its just how you live your life.

You do the wrong thing, and it comes back to you somehow.

do you know soemone who is on drugs, I do. It looks like they are going through hell.

I never touched 'em myself, thought I was nuts enough.

All religions have their pluses and minuses, 'cos they are ALL human religions. I cant say wether my religion is the best, it's only the best for me.
Hope that answers your question.
I think the concept arose form all the wars and stuff.
