I have always been on the heavier side and unable to really lose weight. I may lose some but then I always gain it back. Does anyone know if their is away I can get a thyroid shot to boost my thyroid, and if so do you know how much it may or may not cost?

No, you cannot get a thyroid shot. Thyroid hormones are taking in pill form and a doctor will only write you a prescription if you are hypothyroid. The problem sometimes is that one can be hypothyroid, but the TSH does not catch it until symptoms are severe. I suggest if you can't lose weight with diet & exercise you get your thyroid tested in the morning by having a TSH, Free T4, Free T3, and an antibody test. Also, test for insulin resistance by getting a fasting glucose and a fasting insulin. Both hypothyroidism and insulin resistance can cause weight gain.

Don't fool around with the thyroid. If you are underactive then a blood test can find out. You can't get shots but there are pill only if you have the problem. Taking pills when you don't need them could destroy your natural thyroid function plus the meds can deplete your bones.
