However, what if the woman is totally blind and has tried to marry a muslim man in the past, but has been rejected because of her disability. She feels her only option is to marry a non muslim (christian) as she would be able to live a normal and happy life. What happens in circumstances like these?

OMG hehe so many answers answered are wrong hehe..wel i am a Muslim girl. and in our religion a man is allwed to marry a non muslim woman although a woman is not allowed to marry a non muslim man. The reason is that the children always takes the fathers religion not the mothers therefore its allowed for the man to marry who ever he want but the woman shouldnt.

About the blind female. She might be rejected from some of the ppl but not all of them. She can love have a life! So many people have such a wrong image about the muslim and the arab world from the media.

Still, that's not allowed.

That's not an excuse for marry a non-Muslim. I'm 100% sure they can get married to a Muslim man, who knows how this blind woman feels, and feels sorry for them. Muslims in Britain especially, don't really look at these things. If they find out they are blind, they say no to the marriage. But a loving, caring Muslim man, will marry this woman. If I was attracted to a blind woman, I would marry her, and make things easy for her, be her guide and teach her. Thats what every Muslim man should do, wethere with eyesight or blind, they should still marry and make things easy for them.

And it's hard in this day and age, where you see Muslims falling apart, acting like bad people/gangsters and the likes. It's very disgusting.

My brother is visually impaired. And he has been trying him self, and it's really hard. I always think to myself how hard it must be in his condition, and what if I was like that. We all should think this way. I have been affected with temporily bad eyesight- really blurred vision, so I know just about how hard it is. But now by eyes are better, I can see clear.

There is no verse says clearly that a Muslim woman shouldn't marry a non Muslim but there is one verse says that the Muslim can marry a non-Muslim woman from the people of the holy book so they interpret this verse by saying men only are allowed to marry non-Muslim women . Allah knows best .

Are you sure its because of her disability or because of her beliefs that she is believing in? I am muslim and do not feel any problem marryng a muslim who is blind or have partial visionary problem. I am ready to it if she is ready to spend her whole life with me. May be there was some other reason.

Islam doesn't allow a Muslim lady to marry anybody out of her religion. Man can do it in other religions like in Christian and Jews (the people of book).

It is NOT only with regards to Muslim women.

A Muslim man is NOT allowed to marry a Non-Muslim woman and vice-versa.

Why is this???

You got to be compatible for bringing up your children in the most social, ethical and meaningful way. If the Mother teaches the children to eat ice-cream but if the dad prevents them, then the children will be in confusion.

It wont, thats why when you marry from ONLY one religion, your believes are compatible and the marriage can be peaceful.

Coming to your question, there are NO exceptions for the rule. And this is just a possibility, there haev been examples wherein, many muslim men have married women with dissabilities and vice-versa.

Rarely, there can be such a case, wherein a woman or a man is rejected because of a disability. Still, ALLAH has created them, so definitely HE will provide a match for them, all they have to do is to wait.

A good question, and I don't know the answer. I just wanted to say that not all non-Muslims are Christians. The woman has to decide for herself whether Allah/God would consider such a marriage to be a sin (haram).

Catholics had the same problem in Scotland , and probable still have, the priests threatened them with hellfire as well.

There are many more mixed marriages now a days as people become more educated and realise they were being manipulated by the church.

Before asking him to marry her, shall ask him to try to understand Islam, If she is a true believer, she knows that being on Islam will save him in the afterlife, so try saving him.
Same goes to him, if he is so sympathatic towards her, and loves her, must also try to understand the faith she believes in and to be muslim.
If nothing happens as above, then he might be loving her in this life, but would not be happy with her in afterlife because she is so selfish to "live a normal and happy life" and does'nt care that the man she wants to marry goes to hell.
