pre-nursing anatomy class... ah, that was weird.
honestly, it's a little gross, especially diggin through all the muscles and stuff, and seeing the face muscles completely exposed was scary, and seeing a dead man's penis... well, i won't forget that.
but remember, you're in a room surrounded by a lot of people who feel as uncomfortable as you and you're all pretending it's no big deal.
so just keep thinking it's no big deal, it's educational, it's just the wonderfully amazing human body, nothing scary, and you'll be ok.

I've never been through a med school anatomy class (where they do human dissection) but I have been on an accident scene where it was so gruesome it would have made an anatomy class look like a picnic. When I got into EMS, I thought I would not be able to handle things like that, but I found out that it bothered me way less than I thought it would. When bodies are that messed up, you tend not to view them as people anymore, and that makes it a bit easier.
I don't know if it would help any, but those corpes you get to dissect had to actually decide to donate their bodies to medicine before they died. They wanted to be a tool so young doctors can learn.
Have a fantastic day...

Good that you asked this. Well, I was a bit disturbed too but then of course if Muslim countries are doing this then there must be som eruling. From practical point of view, you can't directly dissect a living human being. When you'll go to the surgical theatres you'll realize the importance. That dissection gives you confidence. Do the dissection yourself. Don't be afraid like some ppl are. I mooost clearly remember the areas I dissected myself. Probably Cuz i went layer by layer and my mind was super-active. One good suggestion: Pray for the dead body. If you don't know if it's a Muslim's or a non-Muslim's you can modify your dua accordingly. Till my present day knowledge I guess you can't pray for a Non-Muslim after death. Like Hazrat Ibraheem a.s was forbade to pray for his(a.s) father after his father had died.

You have to deal with it to become a doctor. Much later, you will face the body of live people. You have much less room for error and bothersome emotions then.
Maybe it will help you to think that this is just an initiation, a right for passage. There are doctor jobs that deal with less people. Brave it for now.

your going to take a lot of things apart before you get to humans, as many undergrad biology classes have you dissecting a wide array of things-- like cats, baby sharks, etc. so if you make it through undergraduate classes with all those fun labs, why not? keep in mind some colleges will differ with labs, so you may or may not get to do that fun stuff in lab classes. if your interested in medicine though your going to have to stomach all that and more. you should volunteer in a hospital or get a part time in health care to get some experience.

there's some pressure to not mess up, especially early on when you don't know what any of the structures are, and you want to try to preserve as much as possible. there's also the pressure of using a bone saw to cut through things while someone else's hand is holding that thing in place. one of the key things to be successful in this field is to be confident in yourself. afterall, the whole admission process is about trying to sell yourself to the school. you can't sell yourself too well if you don't believe in your abilities.
