No. Certainly not where I lived (Hertfordshire). We usually had a bit of snow, but more often in January.

1963 - the "big freeze" - was the last really snowy winter across the whole country, and white christmases (at least in the South) were few and far between in my childhood. According to this BBC site, there was one in 1970 and the next one was in 1981.

No it is not true. There was snow but it was either a one day and finished event but once it fell for two days, froze and stayed for a week. Cars were buried for this time but a sudden thaw made things normal within a day. Because we had to walk everywhere over fields etc because the roads were littered with cars and buses, everyone was friendly but as soon as the situation changed everbody went back into their shells. This is in North Gloucestershire. It is now 5 inches and still falling at 9.30 on Thursday morning.

No it's not true. Far from it. People think it did but their memories are false. And as for global warming, the night before last it was -8 in my part of London and today we have 6 inches of snow. English weather is unpredictable and always has been.

no not so, but the 40's, 50's, and early 60,s up to about 1963 there was plenty of snow and then apart from a few notable exceptions, it has been absent.

No but back then they had more white Christmases than what we do today, in 50 years there will only be 2 season winter and summer due to global warming
