A cross section of the wing shows that air must travel a further distance over the top of the wing, than over the bottom of the wing when going forward. This causes "LOW PRESSURE" over the top of the wing, and this creates "LIFT", on top of the wing, the science of "Flight" has now been completed. It is actually the top of the wing that lifts a plane up, NOT the bottom of the wing.

Airplanes have wings. Helicopters are known as rotary wing since the blades are the actual wings and then spin.

Simply said airplanes are sucked up into the air.
THe shape of the wing is the reason. The front, or leading edge, is thicker then the rear, or trailing edge. The bottom is flat while the top is round, upwards.
The air hits the leading edge and is cut, the air going under the wing just flows by. THe air going over the top has a longer distance to travel and must go faster to meet at the trailing edge. This faster speed makes for a low pressure system above the wing. The wing (whole plane too) is pushed from the high pressure air under the wing to the low pressure air above the wing. To fly level the pull of gravity is equal to the lift provided by the low airpressure above the wing. To come back down you just reduce the airspeed, that reduces the effect of the lift and gravity pulls you back to earth.

Most aeroplanes use wings to produce lift. This is accomplished by making the top edge of the wing 'longer' than the bottom edge. This causes the air on the top of the wing to move faster and therefore reduces air pressure. The lower pressure above the wing causes it to lift.

Some modern designs utilise a 'lifting body' desgin - where they don't have wings as such, but the whole aircraft is wing shaped giving more lift spread over the whole surface area.

Generally two types of propulsion systems are used by Fixed winged air crafts 1)Engine driven propellers 2) By throwing hot gas produced within the jet engine in opposite direction so that the aircraft moves in desired direction.

If we take the cross sectional view of any fixed winged aircraft's
wing; we can see that the upper portion of the cross section is curved up words from its leading edge to the rear tip. Whereas the bottom portion is not so curved but is almost flat. This design makes the flow of the air on upper surface to travel faster than the flow of air under bottom surface as both the air flows have to meet at the trailing end.And this action causes drop in air pressure on top .and almost the air pressure underside to remain
unchanged, which is always higher than the air pressure on top.
Thus wings gate lift in up word direction and the aircraft is lifted against the Earth's gravity.

AEROPLANES HAVE WINGS TO GIVE THEM LIFT INTO THE AIR.CRUISING AT HIGH SPEEDS,THE WIND FLOWS THROUGH THE WINGS,THE UPPER SURFACE OF THE WINGSIS FLAT TO SOME EXTENT AND SCOOPS DOWNWARDS AND THE LOWER SURFACE IS ALSO THE SAME.DUE TO THIS SCOOPING THE WIND FLOWS FASTER ON THE UPPER SIDE COMPARED TO THE LOWER SIDE DUE TO WHICH THERE IS A PRESSURE DIFFERENCE AND TO FILL THE PLACE ABOVE THE WINGS THE WINGS MOVE UPWARDS.THE WINGS ARE ATTACHED TO THE BODY AND THEREFORE THE WHOLE PLNE LIFTS UPWARDS AND THIS IS A CONTINUOUS PROCESS.AN AEROPLANE CAN'T FLY WITHOUT SPEED OR WINGS.

The wings of an airplane provide lift and stability. Without wings, airplanes could not turn or keep control. They get moving by some form of thrust. (Propeller, Jet Engine) Once there is enough thrust, the plane is able to become airborne due to lift from the wings.

The wings are the important part of any plane and well it basically hold the plane up. It does this by allowing air to push the plane upward. the are under the wing is in a area of high pressure and thats what creates the lift.
