Yes--it is only another day to me--and I am 59 years old. Never married, no kids. I have had a different life than most others--but happy because it is what I chose for myself. I am a firefighter in New Jersey---long hours away from home, dangerous work, lots of saddness at the end of a shift---no woman can endure this and still expect me to be around like a normal man. So I never have a woman or the company of one on holidays or special occasions. Valentines Day is a money making scheme for candy and card companies. It makes people sad and suicidal people even sadder---too much stress on one lousy day. The marketing experts are good at making people feel like dirt if they do not spend big money to PROVE their love to someone--that is NOT what it is supposed to be about. We definitely have lost our grip on our lives. Being alone doesn't mean you are unhappy or not a good person. Do not feel any less of an individual. Be happy for who you are. Smile and have a nice day---oh yes, Happy Valentines Day

Here's something I did: have a Valentine's Day party for people who are single. Tell everyone that the price of admission is that they have to bring one friend of the opposite sex who they don't date but who they say is a good person. Have it on Valentine's Day. Anyone who doesn't have a date on Valentine's really is single and not just fooling you. Because of the "price of admission" there will be a lot of new people there who you don't know, so you might find someone. If you meet someone, then you can ask your friend if that person is a good person, and what they're like, and your friend brought them so they can tell you. It really worked for me, and a lot of people ended up meeting someone new!

I'll be single too! I wish there was something I could do with a bunch of other singles for the day just so I don't feel like I'm missing something. And to keep me from thinking about my ex with his new g/f. Yuck. lol
