Some other responses have suggested charcoal. I have the perfect solution that i use myself and made just for this. It is a product called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an activated carbon filter inside that is really great. It works so much better than baking soda and all those sprays.Just place one in your freezer and refrigerator and the problem goes away. No messy pieces or carbon powder to worry about. The carbon filter in this product literally eliminates the odors and works for a long time. I use this product everywhere including my fridge and freezer and also under sinks, near trash, closets, drawers and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it and it's not expensive. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it. Definitely worth trying. It's the best product for any odors around the house.

There is some thing else causing that smell.
Well ,in this regard you should totally empty your freezer and do throughly cleaning with anti bacteria soap, and the end with glorax.
I believe " there is some old blood in that compartment under the panel .
Probably one time you lost electrical power to that freezer.
Most importantly, the meat should be fresh before you expect to freeze it and try to put into plastic bags.

your freezer shouldn't smell meaty.....

it's either not cold enough, or something is not wrapped properly, and then it's probably freezer burnt so you should just throw it away.

Your freezer shouldn't smell like anything

Everyone is telling you baking soda, which is fine. What did people do before baking soda. Simple one little basel leaf. Thats it! Use a leaf anywhere in the house that you may have an odor problem...It will be gone in hours!!!!!!!!!
