He needs to go see the doctor. The doctor will likely check his prostate to see if it is enlarged, and do a urine test to see if he is spilling sugar. Depending on the doctor, he may ask for a fasting blood sugar exam- more blood tests. But the first thing your husband needs to do is make the appointment to see the doctor.

Could be a symptom of many different things. It is a sign of diabetes (polyuria), it could be from an enlarged prostate, maybe he has urinary retention, nocturia, or neourpathic bladder. Or it could be as simple as a bad bladder infection.
So the only real answer I can give you based on the information is to take him to the doctor. Pay attention to other things as well, like how long this has been going on, how much he urinates at a time (a little or a lot), about how many hours apart, ect.... They will probably monitor his blood sugar, draw some labs, ask a bunch of questions, and probably try some different meds. He might even be referred to a urologist.
Good luck and best wishes for good health!

my wife could have written this question.
she told me she never seen a man urinate as much as i do.
i take a diuretic twice a day w/blood pressure med.
also i take a lot of vitamins and food supplements daily.
but i drink a lot of water as i have had kidney stones in the pass and don;t want to get any More.
if he is concerned with this see a urologist for a check up.
if he has an overactive bladder or some other medical problem then their are meds. my wife took for awhile as she had to go pee a lot and at work it was embarrassing..but the meds control your out put...its a real pain on a long car trip or a airplane ride...it also could be Prostrate problem in the male as the bladder does not get to fully empty..see a doc

Try and drink plenty of water, but not too much before bed. Lay off alcohol and caffeinated drinks that act as a diuretic and stimulate you at night. Most importantly he should get himself checked for any bladder infections or prostrate problems by his doctor.

See his doctor. I'm not kidding. We're both x-ray techs(wife and I). She came home telling me about a 40 yr old guy where they had found bladder tumors. He had the same symptoms you mentioned. Don't panic, I'm not saying this is what he has. Seeing a doc ASAP would be a good thing. Good luck!!

The symptom is called polyuria and could be from several factors. As already recommended, he needs a medical evaluation to rule out several factors including diabetes, neuropathy, BPH etc.

You have not stated the age of your husband. Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 and Benign Prostate Hyperplasia/Hypertrophy (enlarged prostate) suspected.
Diabetes mellitus is impaired insulin secretion and variable degrees of peripheral insulin resistance leading to hyperglycemia. Early symptoms are related to hyperglycemia and include polydipsia (excessive thirst), polyphagia (excessive ingestion of food), and polyuria (excretion of an excessive amount of urine). Later complications include vascular disease, peripheral neuropathy, and predisposition to infection. Diagnosis is by measuring plasma glucose. Treatment is diet, exercise, and drugs that reduce glucose levels, including insulin and oral antihyperglycemic drugs. Prognosis varies with degree of glucose control.
Benign prostatic hyperplasia is nonmalignant adenomatous overgrowth of the periurethral prostate gland. Symptoms are those of bladder outlet obstruction—urinary frequency, urgency, nocturia, hesitancy, incomplete emptying, terminal dribbling, overflow incontinence, or complete urinary retention. Diagnosis is based on digital rectal examination, cystoscopy, transrectal ultrasonography, or IVU. Treatment options include 5α-reductase inhibitors, α-blockers, and surgery.
Please see the web pages for more details on Diabetes mellitus and Benign prostate hyperplasia.

He needs to see a doctor. Could be nothing... or could be diabetes, a bladder or kidney problem... any number of things. Better to get it checked out than not.
