That dont contain hydrgenated oils? I use bisto to thicken mince in cottage pie, or if i have chickn breast fillets or steak. i cant use the juices as i dont do full joints. i hate the fact that bisto has hydogenated oils, and usually i avoid them at all costs. any ideas?

I haven't tried this so I don't know what it's like. It might work with Bovril.
Amazing Marmite Gravy
1 tbsp (15g) soft butter - don't use margarine!
1 tbsp plain flour
1 tsp Marmite
1. Dissolve the Marmite in 225ml (about a mugful of boiling water)
2. Melt the butter gently in a saucepan and stir in the flour.
3. Cook over a low heat for a minute and add the Marmite stock,
stirring continuously.
4. Bring back to the boil and simmer until ready to use.

I use an organic stock cube (readily available at all supermarkets, in lots of different flavours) I usually chose chicken, but there are others. Mix about 1- tbs cornflour with small quantity of cold water or milk, to make thick paste. In another jug pour about 1 pint of very hot water onto stock cube. Whisk to mix thoroughly. Combine with the cornflour mix, whisking all the while and pour into small non-stick saucepan. Bring to boil over low heat,stirring continuously, until nice and smooth and thickened. Gravy browning can be used (sparingly) if a rich brown colour is desired. (Gravy browning also readily available). This will give you a delicious gravy with nothing nasty in it!

Buy Free and Easy Gluten Free Gravy Sauce Mix from supermarkets or health food shops. It contains no animal products or hyrogenated oils and has a better flavour than Bisto

making your own gravy is better.
just fry off your ingredients eg mince onion etc then add boiling water and oxo or bovril usually around four cubes does it then add tomato puree and leave it to simmer for about 5 mins then get about 3 teaspoon of cornflour and add 2 teaspoons of cold water mix together and add it to your mince it should thicken up quicky, but remember to stir it in as it can conjeal if you dont stir thoroughly.

Don't know what Bovril contains but I've used that for mince - don't even know if it thickens it - but it adds a nice taste!! Maybe look at the OXO cubes - or Knorr...
Just thoughts... I'm not great in the kitchen!

Try adding a litte soy sauceto colour then use McDougalls thickening granules available from Tescos
