Me me me!! I remember!! But we were kids back then, and the idea was so novel, we didn't think of them as hideous. Anyway, I think we only did TV dinners through the 60's. Mom didn't work away from home during my jr. high and high school years, so she pretty much cooked dinners in the 70's. Well, she worked in the late 70's.. and we all learned the wonders of THE CROCKPOT!!
**EDIT** Marie Callender's (sp?) is yummy, but my favorite frozen dinners are from Stouffer's!

Yep, I remember them, the turkey was ok, a little dry. The Salisbury steak was pretty good, and yep had to add a little butter and it made it taste better. Some had a little apple cobbler, it was pretty good. I remember the pot pies too,lot of gravy, not much meat. But that was OK cause the meat was pretty dry. I don't think they were 98 cents though, I'm remembering more like maybe 49 cents, 29 cents on sale. This would have been in the mid 60's. Stouffer's frozen foods really started the change in frozen foods.

No, no, No. I was born in 1963 and my parents, though well off - and we did eat out sometimes (on Dad's expense account!) but never, never, never did we have anything artificial in the house, my mother was, and still is an excellent cook (if unconventional) and though there were things I hated (well, I was a kid!) on the whole, we ate well.
I remember the Smash adverts and actually spent my birthday money (we did not get pocket money) on a packet when I was about 8 or 9 - and it was an unmitigated disaster! Yeughh!
I never ate it again until I was in my 30's and my stepfather, who was blind, could whip up a mean mashed potato - and then it was only a year later that I discovered how he did it! Now I am a fan.
Honey nuggets was another disaster - all slimy with milk and not very appetising!

sorry, can't vouch for 60's or early 70's....but they have definetely come a long way since early 80's for sure. If you have the time and patience....cook em in the oven instead of the microwave, you'll be more satisfied .

Rubbery Salsbury Steak with unchewable peas and carrots and that rock-hard brownie dessert.
Yep. I remember them and you're right frozen food has come a long way. MC is good, Pepperidge Farm too.

OMG !!!!!!!!! Flash Backs, Whew, my sister would add to the nightmare and fix canned biscuits and grape kool-ade . How on earth we made it through "heat 'n eat" is beyond me .
Granted there have been improvements, but it still has a "cheat eat" feeling to it .

Oh my gosh! When I was a kid getting a tv dinner was a treat! My favorite was meatloaf with that tasty red sauce on it. It wasn't just ketchup either. Now I couldn't eat one if I had to! Yuck! Yuck! Yuck!
