I am wondering if any one has advice for how to better deal with the sadness a long distance relationship can sometimes bring. Some days I feel like just breaking down. When he writes me emails he seems so emotionally disconnected, I am wondering if this is a "guy's way" of dealing with stressful situations and if I should just cut him some slack. He is 20 and I am 19. I am his first girlfriend as well. What should I be doing to better help him and myself out. Thank you!

Your both so young cut him some slack you said he is here (I'm in Australia) to study so don't be upset,as you will upset him too.He would be missing you as well I'm sure.Your only making it harder for yourself as well. Get your self busy and go out with friends you don't have to sleep with them.

Just forget you are boyfriend/girlfriend for one year anything can happen in 12 months.Him listening to your being heart broken all the time wont be helping him at all.Men are better at covering up their feelings as you probably know by now. Good luck get busy girl and smile

Forget this guy. Your 19, he's 20. Do you know what us guys do when we go abroad? We attempt to have wildly promiscuous sex with any and all able-bodied women.

Yeah, we can act pretty emotionally disconnected sometimes, but when we actually care about the girl we're leaving behind (which, yes, can occasionally happen), we're not going to be emotionally disconnected at the expense of her sleeping with other guys.

If you're not still not sure - test him. Write him an email that makes some brief mentioning of some 'nice' guy you met, who's been 'helping you out with your homework', and you're 'just friends' with. See how he reacts. If he gives a sh-t, then maybe you have someone who cares. I'd be suprised tho.

Long distance relationships are for people who have kids or engagements.

You have to do what you have to do. Your both very young and inexperienced. Cut him some slack, (freudeon slip) don't you mean you want him to cut you some. Your to young for a long distance relationship to work.
