I got my braces off of my teeth 2 weeks ago and one side of my gums are inflammed and swollen & it hurts like hell.

I already tried to get my dentist to write me a script for pain but he wouldn't he just said take advil!

I am the kind of person that it takes 3 times the medicine than a regular person would take to work on me!

I can't help it but that's how my body is, it just don't break down the medicine like it should!

So it would take very powerful pain medicine to work on me!

But you know my dentist or doctor wouldn't buy that they would think I'm lying just trying to get some narcotics.

I'm not a drug seeker at all I just want some relief from the pain!

How will I convince my dentist to write me a script for pain just for a couple of days so I can have some relief?

I also have this problem. OTC pain medication hardly does anything for me.

You probably can't get any pain meds. I've had extensive dental work done and never been prescribed any meds. Dentists just don't do it. It's not fair how the people who take advantage ruin it for everyone, but that's how it is.

Take Tylenol or aspirin anyway because reducing the swelling will reduce the pain. Try some of that numbing stuff that's for cold sores. Also rinsing with salt water and sucking ice might help.

Try rinsing your mouth with salty, warm water a few times a day. The salt help heal inflammed gums. Try Tyenol instead of Advil. It is for pain relief. I have never heard of anyone getting pain meds for having braces off. I had the same thing done and didn't need them. Maybe, you have an infection going and need to have the dentist take a look. The salt water will help with that too.
Good luck!

Go to the pharmacy and get a small bottle of OIL OF CLOVES
Rub it on the sore parts and you will have almost instant relief. Another substance is BONJELA which is used for teething children when their gums are sore. Works wonders and is cheap You don't need high powered drugs for your condition

Why not just go to your doctor? Is your mouth infected? What is going on with dentists? They sure do not seem to care for their patients anymore. They are really getting out of hand.

What is a Toothache?

A "Toothache" can usually be referred to as pain that is felt around the teeth and or jaw. The cause of a toothache in most cases is by either problems with your jaw and or tooth. In most cases you (and I am talking from experience here) you would just leave it and wait for the pain to subside, but this isn't the correct thing to do.
