Catholics believe that life is a sacred gift from God and needs to be treated with all human dignity from the moment of conception to the point of natural death.
The Catholic Church is not just against abortion, it is pro-life in the widest sense. This is often called a "Consistent Ethic of Life."
This pro-life stance stresses the highest regard for dignity of human life including that of:
- All people in objecting to unjust war and nuclear arms.
- The unborn in objecting to to abortion, in fitro fertilization, frozen embryos, embryonic stem cell research, and cloning
- The elderly, sick and dying in objecting to assisted suicide and euthanazia
- Prisoners in objecting to the death penalty
- The poor and minorities in supporting social justice issues.
With love in Christ.

It depends -- are you asking about the official Roman Catholic stance, or the opinions of Roman Catholics? The RC stance is that it's murder and that it should be illegal. That said, not all individuals agree with the Vatican on all matters, and, there are Roman Catholics who are pro-choice. Granted, many other Roman Catholics would say that pro-choice Roman Catholics aren't Roman Catholic at all, but that's another issue. Blanket answer? Anti-abortion and anti-choice. But this really belongs under the topic of "religion and spirituality," not pregnancy.

Roman Catholics are against abortion. In addition, some Roman Catholics are against anything that comes inbetween the fertilization of the egg, including birth control.

The Roman Catholic Church believes that life is sacred. It is a gift from God. The Law is "thou shalt not kill." We believe that life begins when a human egg cell is fertilized at conception. Killing this human life is contrary to God's will and will , therefore, never be condoned by the Church. We pray for an end to this evil.

The Church has affirmed the moral evil of abortion since the first century. This teaching has not changed. The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to those who procure abortion. The same penalty applies to those who cooperate in such crime against human life.

I find it strange that Catholics are opposed to abortion yet they agree to join the armed services and fight in wars where children may still be killed. Jesus said to love one's enemies and to pray for those persecuting you. How can Catholics do that and still participate in war?

It's a no-no. Roman Catholic church views abortion as it views murder. The purpose of sex, according to the RCC is procreation.
