If the USA is a Republic, then why would it insist on
a Democracy for other nations. Why not insist upon a
Republic for other nations?

Because many governments today are a Republican style of government in some form. But why did you ask this question here????

You're splitting hairs. Actually, the terms are often (but not properly) used interchangeably. The new Iraqi government is technically a republic.
