There's no "if" involved, the USA is a republic. The word "democracy" is misused frequently because most people are too stupid to understand the word republic and a republican form of government.

Just look as some of the fools who have answered before me insisting the USA is a democracy. They are totally clueless.

The USA is not a republic it is a democracy. The lawmakers in washington operate in a republic not the citizens. I think you are confusing republic with republicans and vise versa they have nothing to do with each other. A represenative liberal democracy is a system where minorities are represented fairly. A Republic is a goverment controlled by popular vote. Which can be good sometimes but when the country is as uneducated as the USA then it is not a good system.

Democracy means the government in which the people hold the ruling power either directly or through elected representatives and rule by the ruled or majority rule or the principle of equality of rights, opportunity and treatment.
Republic means a state or nation in which the supreme power rests in all the citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by repre sentatives elected, directly or indirectly by them and responsible to them or the form of government of such a state or nation with a president as its titular head
So based on those definitions USA is a republic headed by a president as the head of state and the head of government. which practice a democracy because USA has a parliament and senate which its members are elected by all citizens entitled to vote..A monarchy will have a democracy like in UK and Thailand if they have a parliament elected by all of the citizens entitled to vote. The queen/king is the head of state and prime minister is the head of government.USA did not insist upon republic because not all states in this world headed by a president. such as Saudi Arabia,Uk,Thailand,Nederland,Belgium ,Spain etc..
tives elected

"Republic" describes the type of nation. It's opposite to monarchy.
"Democracy" describes how the nation operates. It uses democracy to run the Govt and serve the people.
