(James 2:17-18) Thus, too, faith, if it does not have works, is dead in itself. 18 Nevertheless, a certain one will say: “You have faith, and I have works. Show me your faith apart from the works, and I shall show you my faith by my works.”

(James 2:21-22) Was not Abraham our father declared righteous by works after he had offered up Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 You behold that [his] faith worked along with his works and by [his] works [his] faith was perfected,

(James 2:26) Indeed, as the body without spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

Faith alone will not get you to heaven. The Bible says that faith and good works go hand in hand. What is faith without good works, and good works without faith? I can have faith in God, but what if I murder, steal, lie? Jesus saved mankind when he died on the cross. Salvation is given to all. But without faith and good works... to hell you go, bro!

James 2:24-26 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. (v25) Likewise, also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? (v26) For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

If your faith keeps you living the life you should be living, like doing good things for others, not lying or cheating, being moral, then yes. If you think you can do whatever you want as as long as you believe in a higher power you're saved, I would suggest you think again.

We are saved by grace, not by works, so that no one can boast.
We are saved by grace alone. Recall that in Acts 16:31 the jailer asked Paul and Silas how to be saved. They responded, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved." The jailer believed and immediately became saved.
Close to 200 times in the New Testament salvation is said to be by faith alone - with no works in sight. Consider the following:
John 3:15 tells us that "everyone who believes in him may have eternal life."
John 5:24 says, "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my words and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life."
In John 11:25 Jesus says, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies."
John 23:46 says, "I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness."
John 20:31 says, "But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name."
If salvation were not by faith alone, then Jesus' message in the Gospel of John - manifest in the above quotations - would be deceptive, stating that there is one condition for salvation when there are allegedly two - faith and works.
I must emphasize that we are saved by faith for works. Works are not the condition of our salvation, but a consequence of it We are saved not by works, but by the kind of faith that produces works.

Eph 2:8-10 God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can't take credit for this: It is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

It is ONLY by the grace of God, through faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior that we are saved. A lot of people get confused and think that it is through works because in James 2:15-17, we are told, "Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, 'Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,' but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.'"

But, if we believe we are saved through good works, then we are crediting ourselves with our salvation rather than Jesus. I think the purpose of James 2:15-17 is to make us search our hearts and determine whether our faith is real or just lip service.

Just like love, faith is expressed through action. Someone can claim they love you a hundred times a day, but if their actions/or lack thereof don't back up their claim, we have cause for doubt. Likewise, if you're truly saved, as an expression of your love and obedience to God, your faith should produce good works. BUT, works cannot save you. You can never earn your way into Heaven - it is only through grace by faith (Ephesians 2:8-9).

However, our faith should produce a change in us and should spur us to action, but this is what the Bible says concerning salvation:

"That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." -Romans 10:9-10

"Then they asked him, 'What must we do to do the works God requires?' Jesus answered, 'The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.' -John 6:28-29 (Works do not save us)

"He then brought them out and asked, 'Sirs, what must I do to be saved?' They replied, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.'" -Acts 16:30-31

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— NOT BY WORKS, so that no one can boast." -Ephesians 2:8-9

According to some Christians, no. You also have to believe that Jesus died for you sins. Good works always help though. I believe faith & good works do more than just memorizing some passages. That's just my little old opinion though.

Yes it will but that doesn't mean that you should be as rebellious as you please just because you have faith because the Bible says you should either be cold or hot. He (God) says do not be lukewarm or he'll spew you out of his mouth. So if you have faith then that faith should go with your actions (have reverence for the Lord, save souls for Him etc) otherwise you're lukewarm and God will not accept you as his child. God bless.
