there is a wisdom tooth back there that is growing but when i touch the tooth it doesnt hurt. The area that feels like the roof of my mouth around the tooth hurts tho. Is it my tonsils? How do i tell if its my tooth rubbing against the area or the area itself that is making my mouth hurt so much?

If you had tonsilitis, chances are you'd have more cold-like symptoms to go along with it, including a fever and a very sore throat. My guess is it's the wisdom tooth pain, which can extend pretty far down.
My advice is to see your doctor or dentist...Or both.
Also, if your wisdom teeth are giving you pain, you should have them extracted. Please take my advice on this one - Have all 4 out at the same time, even if only 1 is giving you pain. Trust me - You do not want to go thru that surgery more than once.

You can check this out one of three ways. If you have access to a medical encyclopedia you can look it up. It will give you a few clues.
Then do what you should have done to begin with. See your doctor.
You could also go to your dentist. I think the doctor is a better choice because a physician will look for more different symptoms and refer you to a dentist if it is a dental problem.
Lots of people have impacted wisdom teeth. That could be your problem. But a doctor will be able to tell you.

better hope are not your wisdom teeth impacting cuz if they are I feel sorry for you man, a month ago I just extracted my 4 wisdom teeth at once, two of them were impacting, first of all it cost me a lot of money and the pain and swelling for the next week wuz nothing fun my friend so if I wuz u, I would start getting ready with some soups cuz thats all you'll be able to eat for a week...Im so glad I'm done with that!!!

tonsils feel like a sore throat. so it could be a cavity. so go to dentist and check it out. it could also be ur wisdom teeth is pushing ur other teeth and have to remove the wisdom teeth (surgicly) go get it checked out

when you swallow it will hurt the back of the top of your mouth,almost in your throat if it is your tonsils
