Strange as it may sound, frozen vegetables can sometimes be fresher than vegetables found at the market. That is because they're flash frozen right after they are harvested, whereas vegetables in the market are transported with minimal refrigeration. That being said, frozen vegetables may have slightly better nutritional content as some vitamins are preserved during the flash freezing process. As for the other frozen food, it's better not to opt for preprocessed food.

Frozen vegetables are definitely good. Frozen food? When you are buying, make sure to look at the nutritional label and ingredients. Some frozen foods like Swanson's "Hungry Man" can be almost 900 calories with 40+ grams of fat, which is WAY too much.
Just be concious and your family should be fine!

Frozen vegetables are not as good as fresh but better than canned as they are not packed with salt. Concerning frozen prepared foods, if you'll read the ingredient labels you will notice that things are added (usually preservatives) to insure that the food can sit in a freezer for extended periods of time until someone buys it. Try adding something fresh with in-a-hurry meals like a cut up cucumber or a quick tomato salad (tomato, garlic, oregano, oil, vinegar and a dash of salt).

Frozen veggies are excellent, because they are picked at the freshest point and minimally processed without heating, unlike canned veggies. However, some vegetables like corn are actually better for you in the can (the liquid holds more nutrients). With some vegetables, though, fresh is best; frozen broccoli and zucchini are just nasty texture-wise when they're thawed and cooked.

They just done a segment on the TODAY show not long ago about this argument....and come to find out..indeed the frozen stuff is better than canned veggies...however the prepackage foods frozen or boxed contain WAY to much sodium and ridiulous amounts of preservatives that prove int he long run not to be so great for the body...However in this fast paced society we live in its almost impossible for a busy working mother not to use these products...maybe just in moderation and counterbalance the sodiums and sugars by offering salads or low fat desserts or drinking plenty of water instead of sodas, and sugary drinks...that is for adults and children...Everything in moderation....and ALWAYS read labels...its a good habit to get into...watch out for those sodium and sugar levels and of course the fats and calories...its a tough world...and anymore ther eis not much that any one can eat....so we just have to drink plenty of water and exercise and try to do the best we can! Good luck...and dont worry about it so much...as long as u are not passing through the fast food places for dinner everynight ur family should be Ok...at least u are trying to do dinners at home prepackaged or not...that is a rarity these days for families to eat dinners together at home!

Years ago, it was believed that food gathered and cooked was best, but testing has taught us that frozen vegetables are good and it depends on how it is cooked. Temperature affects the vitamins and nutrients found in them. As a single man, I cook frozen vegetables all the time and according to my doctor,,,,I am extremely healthy. However, I was raised on fresh cooked produce.

Yep. Some frozen foods are better for you than fresh... peas, for instance, retain moisture and firmness better when they are reheated from frozen. Frozen corn is awesome.
The things to watch out for with frozen foods are sodium (salt) and trans fat. If it has "partially hydrogenated vegetable oil" in the list of ingredients, don't eat it. Also, if it has only 10% of your day's calories, but 50% of your day's sodium, you can do better.
Healthy Choice makes some fair frozen dinners, and most frozen vegetables are going to be fine.

Vegetables are good for your family. If frozen is the best you can do, it's better than nothing. I think frozen is good because the vitamins aren't cooked out of them. I think it's great that you are such a caring mom.

Frozen vegetables are good. So are canned. I eat alot of canned myself. Frozen foods such as TV dinners should be avoided though. Try baking some chicken breasts and having either frozen or canned veggies as a side. Good choices!
