They have this paint at lowes, I believe it has Granite flakes in it. I really like the look, but not so much the price. I was wondering if you could paint a wall a solid color, then mix the glitter with a clear glaze and use that over the paint. Do you think that would work and look nice?

Yes you can! You got it! Paint your wall the desired undercolor first, then add the glitter to the clear glaze... kinda like painting your nails.

Good luck!

It would be difficult to mix it evenly except in small amounts. Also, the paint will cover most, if not all, of the glitter, so it will probably just look like lumpy paint. You'd be best to paint the wall and add a glitter glaze over the top. Even then you might find it a bit patchy. A word of warning though - unless the glitter is very, very fine it will be difficult to paint over in the future when you want to change it again. You'll have to do a lot of sanding to remove the pieces of glitter from the wall, or you'll have a strangely textured wall for ever!

I not sure because to paint a wall you use house hold paint quailty and glitter paint is normal craft paint.

It might look alright for a while depending how it done. IT could get too carried away. if you use too much glitter. But down the track I think you may have problems with it.

Do a sample first, I think it would work however I was going to suggest you use the spray on glitter (very fine mist). Just don't mix it in the regular paint, I've tried that and it ruins the paint and it doesn't glitter.

You can mix the glitter with the glaze, or just get some mica powder (wear dust mask) and "blow" it on the wall in areas that you want it with a hairdryer.
