I heard that giving a baby a warm bath helps bring down the temperature, but its 2am, and baby is sleep for now, I have been checking his temperature every hour and its gone up to 100.5, if it gets any higher, I probably will wake him and give him a warm bath, and wait to see if it drop, any suggestions, thanks a very conserned mom.

Fever is the body's way of fighting off infection. If your son is sleeping, let him sleep. Infant Tylenol or Motrin should bring down his fever. You can even dose ever two hours if you alternate meds (Tylenol at 1:00, Motrin at 3:00, Tylenol at 5:00, etc.) You don't mention any other symptoms, but if he stilll has a fever tomorrow and is not felling well and still showing whatever other symptoms he has, I would suggest calling the doctor. Would rather he be seen by doctor if he needs to be than wait until weekend and wind up at the hospital. Oh! It's not a warm bath, but a tepid (barely room temperature) bath that can help bring a fever down. Too warm will bring the fever up and too cool will cause chills which can cause the fever to go up as well in an effort to warm the body.

I'm kind of lacking information on why your child has a fever. Obviously he has some kind of viral infection or something similar, I would assume.

A 100.5 temperature is fairly high. A dose of Childrens Tylenol would help to reduce the fever. Perhaps you could try that at first and then re-check to see if the fever is down. If the fever is not down in several hours, or increases, then I would recommend that you take your child in for medical treatment.

Hope this helps.

Was your baby a full term baby? My son was a preemie and I have to call the doctor if his temp is over 101. A few of my friends had babies around the same time as me and their doctors don't get concerned unless their babies temp is 103. I couldn't ever wait for it to get that high...I'm like you and get concerned if it's above 99. I would just give your baby some infant tylenol and check it again in an hour. Good Luck and I hope your little one feels better.

I think you are getting some great advise. If the fever is due to recent shots let your child rest and be comfortable, just keep checking his/her temp. for 100.5 is not bad, just strip your baby down to only a daiper and keep a cool cloth on his/her forhead. If the fever is from being sick then this is a good thing for it is fighting the virus. Try to rest with your child.

Fevers are actually good as long as they don't get too high.
The higher body temp helps kill off bacterial infections. You don't get a fever with a virus.
Watch him, and get worried if he goes past 103-104.
Good Luck!

If he is sleeping I would just let him sleep. If he wakes up and is fussy give him some tylenol. Really 100.5 isn't all that high. But if you don't have any tylenol and he's fussy, then a luke warm bath might do the trick. Good Luck, I hope he feels better soon.

At this point, I would wait to let nature take care of it. But, if you notice his fever increasing quickly, you need to go to the ER. Febrile seizures happen in kiddos at when they get a high fever but when the fever gets high quickly.

You should call your pediatrician. But this is a low fever, don't panic. I would not treat the fever unless it goes higher or the baby is uncomfortable.

Try rotating Childrens tylonal and ibprofen. If needed you can give him meds every two to three hours. The hospital will not accept you until the temp is at least 103.00. That may seem high, but for a child who losses heat quickly it really is not that bad. Make sure they get plenty of sleep, and you to. You cant get hime better if you and he dont get rest!
