Firstly do you live on your own? if not have any other members of your house hold been teasing and hurting the cat? It might be that your cat no longer trusts humans.
Have you had anybody around that might have molested your cat!
I'm sure that it might not be that severe but as you stated you are going to take the cat to the vet's so i'm sure there will be a reasonalbe explanation.
Good Luck
P.S Have you tried getting soem catnip, the pure kind? it almost looks like skunk but it isn't. Cats absolutely love that stuff and start rubbing themselves all over the floor.

Something happened to her that made her this way. What happened was traumatic. If she is an indoor/outdoor cat, someone may have abused her, but left no marks. I highly recommend the book, "The Cat Who Cried for Help," written by a veterinarian, Nicholas Dodman, who also teaches a highly ranked school of veterinary medicine.

Sounds like she's in pain or hurt. Poor baby, hopefully the vet can sort her out quickly.

Take her to the vet. See an animal psychologist as well.

She's either sick or in pain somewhere. Is there a chance she got tapped by a car or abused somehow when she was outside?
Poor thing. She needs medical care.

Probably some idiot outside has tried to hurt her. Give her some tasty treats & keep her indoors for a while (unless you suspect it was someone who has come into the house).
