Doesn't it have the same effect as an atheist answering a Christian's question with quotes from a science journal?

essentially, yes. but everyone feels the need to "prove" themselves with crap tht only they believe. everyone's right in their own minds i guess.

you might be right but not always do they use scripture either. they use it to show truth. for instance some might use revelations to show what is going on in the world today that it talks about. i have used that the Bible said those who dont believe will call us names and do things to us who do believe for his names sake. for myself all atheist who call me names just proved the Bible even more. however i wont give acts 2:38 to prove something. this is just a verse that says baptize in Jesus name. anyways most the time they use the Bible it is showing what the Bible says about the matter.

just like many non believers will try to quote things from science journals or books to say they have proof when reality they dont. like how old earth is. they are still debating that. and many other things. why can you quote what evolution scientist say as fact when most of it is not but christians cant quote the Bible as fact as we see it. for instance if i said well according to the Bible the earth is only 6000 to 10000 years old. you get mad because i used the Bible however you can say well science proves the earth is 42 million years old. when that is not proven either.

anyways maybe it does have the same effect however maybe someone will see something. like how the Bible talks about us getting implants in our right hand or forehead and well 100 yrs ago that was not possible but today thousands have gotten implants. and it is just about mandatory for all animals to have an implant now.

I think a Christian does this just to show where he/she is coming from. It's sort of like a reference, a way of verifying the answer. Kind of showing the -who, what, when, where, how and why of things. To my knowledge, no one has said an atheist could not use a science journal. No one is stopping them. If they want to use it-...go for it.

People will respond with the information they have - thats all.

For the religous , all answers must from their religous texts (i.e. Bible, Quran, Vedas etc). Hence they will quote from their religous text as the final authority / say in the matter.

For the atheist, all answers must arrive from common sense or science or other sources of recorded / provable fact. Hence they will apply their scientific knowledge for all matters.

When you ask a question isn't it better to hear the answer straight from the horse's mouth? There is no establishment , no man or science journal that has the kind of wisdom that comes from the word of God. swindled. Esther , you go girl !!! I gave you a thumbs up.

Yes, it has the same effect. Apparently Christians believe that if they quote something from the bible it will actually prove something. It doesn't prove anything except the fact that they can read and type. I guess most Christians can not articulate an argument from their own thoughts.

NO ! The author of your scientific journal didn`t die on the Cross for your sins !! Have your science answer this ; can man create DNA ? ( NO ) Can matter create itself ? ( NO ) Can knowledge create itself ( NO ) Then where did DNA come from ? As it is the building block of all known life if man and his science can`t create the building block of life, DNA , then how do they explain in their journal where DNA came from ?? See Genesis 1 : 1 .. IN THE BEGINNING GOD CREATED THE HEAVEN AND THE EARTH !

good point. but thats where their logic comes from. thats their answer key. Caholics have the catchism. we use that an awful lot. science journals may not be respected when it comes to answers, so I like to give answers in my own words...may back it up with quotes, but only when I am debating other christians....thats fun!
cheerio!

No, not at all. This question comes up often in this section. The word of God is living and active. It never returns void. When a person asks about God or Jesus, the source of the answer should always come from His word, which is the bible. Those verses are not merely words on a page. Jesus said that one day, heaven and earth will pass away, but His words will never pass away. They give life, they penetrate the heart and soul, even if someone is unaware of that power.

No, because the stuff in the science journal is true.

They do this because they know there isn't any actual proof of anything they believe in (the bible is not proof). It does not have the same effect because we mostly just stare back at them like they are the dumbest people for trying to through quotes from the bible at someone who is trying to have an intelligent conversation. Bible + intelligent = does not exist.
