the use of the word "scum" is a big exaggeration and a word that guy should not have used. but yes, we generally strongly dislike them. it is one thing to leave your religion to join another, but it is an entirely different thing to leave your religion and then turn on your own people. we may not agree with jews who convert to regular christianity, but at least we can respect them. messianic "judaism" on the other hand... nope.
angel of fire illustrates messianic "judaism" quite nicely.

Scum? No.
Naive absolutely.
99% of all so called Messianic Jews had very little if any Jewish education before they converted.
I have yet to meet a single Messianic Jew that was once Orthodox or very knowledgeable about Judaism before their conversion.

Most jews are quite tolerant of other religions.
Sometimes the Orthodox jews can be quite unaccepting of other religions including other Jews. The Orthodox portions of Judaism has radicalized elements that consider Jews only to be Jews if they are Orthodox. Most Jews undertand this and we consider these folks our Meshugana brothers.
Now...most Jews would not consider being a messianic jew...and believe this is also a bit meshugana frankly as well. Scum...not under any circumstance just a bit nutty and believing something that most Jews would shake their heads and be forced to say.....Huh....what did you just say? Possibly laugh a little at the irony of their beliefs but not at them....live and let live.
Christians and radicalized Jews and other radicalized religous folk beleive that the only true path to god is through their religous beliefs and doctrine. This thinking is anti-jewish and repugnant to most Jews.
Most Jews believe in the spoke and hub theory of religion.
God is the hub of all religious beliefs. Various spokes reach out from the hub and end with hundreds of views of spirituality all of which are paths to god as well, and equally valid. However, radical religions that exclude others and preach anger or hatred of others are not on a spoke that connects to the hub as this type of behavior is not a true path to god.
Hence, most Jews are truly tolerant of other religions and sects of Jewish theology...even if it does not float their personal boat or appear to be a bit odd or meshugana. Live and let live brother and god is in charge of figuring out eho is righteous and a good individual...not some knucklehead here on earth.
Hope this helps some. I am Jewish my entire life.

These "Messianic Jews" are your everyday common Christians. They have no connection to Judaism at all. They prey on the down-and -out, and elderly "real" Jews in order to convert them to Christianity. As people, they are NOT scum, but their tactics are reprehensible.

I would not call them "scum" but one person on this site is very pushy, trying to get people to leave their Religion and join the Messianic Jews as that is the true Religion as he put it.
God Bless You

Scum? No. Liars? Yes.
Oh, and since these people are not Jews, using the word "other" is inappropriate.

not so much "scum" as much as "crazy". I feel bad for them. I've tried to help, but they're usually way too brainwashed for that. its really sad. but the leaders of these groups -- people who do know better -- yea, they're scum.
