david n's right, you should understand the methodology behind how chi works in the first place before you get anywhere close to increasing chi. otherwise it be like searching out of darkness. it takes many years to master the "chi".

acupuncturists are one of those people that knows the meridian concepts. i disagree w/ saint g, while "chi" training can't get you fireball feats, it sure can increase you body's defence towards incoming attacks. like an invisible armor.

the grandmaster of Wahnam shaolin institute's one of those really respected qigong masters on the world scene, check it out. (& no, i have no affiliations with them watsoever).

ask an acupuncturist. they deal with meridian lines and 'chi' pathways. I think that you get more success from healing with chi than fighting with it. I have got great healing experiences from acupuncture but never was able to do any crouching tiger-hidden dragon feats of power.

Forget about increasing chi.

The first things that you need to do are:
Perceive it,
Channel it and
Direct it (within yourself.)

i.e.; First learn what it is and how it works.

I sure hope you're not fishing for information for your comic strip! If you are, I like the old tried and true method of eating a can of spinich!
