You can use whatever american bank account you already own. If you don't have any yet, then go to any bank and open a free checking or savings account. When you file your taxes, they will ask you for your account number and your bank's routing number for direct deposit purposes. Write down the information of your new bank account, or exisiting bank account and the IRS will deposit your refund there.

You'll need a checking account to be able to accept a direct deposit from the IRS because you'll need to place the routing numbers on the end of your tax return. You can open one at any financial institution with two forms of ID: 1) a official one with a picture, and 2) a credit card issued in your name.
