I would say when traveling on to NY you would first off wear something comfortable for the aircraft, also you want to definitely wear layers as you may be warm on the aircraft, but the weather in the NY area is really cold right now so you want to make sure you warm.

I go to new york like 10 times a year, im so excitted for you, I absolutely love it there, since you live in tn, im assuming you already have a coat, you will want to bring that along with gloves and scarf it is super cold there right now, no one really pays attention to what people are wearing unless the are wearing no clothes at all, everyone just minds their business, enjoy your trip:)

Hi. Since you posted this question on Yahoo, I bet u do have Internet access. Check on the weather report for the Big Apple, monitor the reports for a couple of days to see how's the average weather will be like. If it's cold (based on those who have been to NY & those who are in NY), bring warm clothings like thick winter clothings, sweaters, gloves, scarf & etc but do organize things carefully when travelling. Somethings might be redundant for you to bring over coz you might not even use it at the end. Most important is to keep yourself well hydrate during the trip.

Layer and dress warmly! but DO NOT carry your camera bag and cd case UNDER your coat while wearing a scarf covering your head!!
I did and got "confronted" by armed security after a pilot reported me as "suspicious". (this was in DC.)
As for what you wear underneath the coat...you see a little of everything in New York. Go and "Represent" TN. Have Fun!

Something warm! It's like 9 degrees outside right now. Ugh! Wear dark colors and boots. That's all I see everywhere I go. Men, women...everyone.....dark colors and boots.

DRESS warm! if you're going anytime soon. I would be comfortable, bring your ten. style with you. Jeans and sweaters and above all , cute shoes! Just leave flannal shirts and hoodies at home and you'll be CUTE
