I think I already said it is not past progressive or past imperfect which is exactly the same.
past progressive refers only to auxiliary verb to be in past and a verb in ing or gerund. this to talk about something that was happening untill it stopped. The sentence I am using talks about something that would happen in the future but was interrupted.I f the intention is not the same the tense cannot be the same.
So try harder to convince me :p
