The major differences are:

Twin (A330) vs Quad (B747). This means that the B747 can operate without the ETOPS restrictions that apply to twins, but is less efficient in flight cruise than an equivalent twin would be.

Range: The A330 maxes out at about 6750nm, with the B747 at 7600nm (or 8000nm if you include the announced-but-not-delivered 747-8).

Size: The A330 seats about 300 people in a three class configuration. The B747 seats about 400.

Manufacture: The A330 makes significant use of composites, while the B747 is basically an all-metal airplane.

Control Concept: The A330 is a pure fly-by-wire airplane, where the pilot interacts with a computer, and the computer changes the control surfaces. The B747 is a traditional servo-assisted mechanical type.

Decks. The A330 has two decks, with the lowest, the cargo hold, as one of them -- which can be equipped for passenger or crew access. The B747 has three, with its cargo hold inaccessible in flight.

Compromises: The B747 is strongly tied to the 1960's vintage 747-100 series aircraft, so some decisions on modern variants are suboptimal because of that. The A330 is tied to the four-engined A340, which means it's wing is suboptimal.

There are many many differences between the Airbus A330 and the Boeing 777, Boeing 777 is made in the USA. Airbus A330 is made in Europe. So they are TWO different planes. first, the Airbus A330 is controlled by a joystick that the captain and co pilot use in the cockpit. The A330 has joysticks instead of flight yokes in the cockpit. The Boeing 777 is controlled by flight yoke's that the copilot and pilot uses in the cockpit, the 2 flight sticks that look like steering wheels but they aren't. The Boeing 777 has a pair of 2 wheels in the front and 2 pairs of 6 wheels in the landing gear the wings in between the 2 engines. The Boeing 777 is a 14 wheeler. Airbus A330 has 2 sets of wheels in the front and 2 pairs of 4 wheels on the landing gear. The Airbus A330 is a 10 wheeler. Lastly in difference, the Boeing 777 has bigger engines. Boeing 777 has giant engines. Airbus A330 Has winglets, Boeing 777 does not have winglets. Airbus A330 and all Airbus family aircraft has straight tail section. Boeing 777 and all Boeing family aircraft has sloped tail section.

Here are the primary differences...

1. The 747 has a distinctive "humpback" profile on the forward fuselage. The A330's fuselage is more or less a straight tube.
2. The 747 has 4 engines, the A330 has two engines
3. The 747-400 is a much larger aircraft and flies farther than the A330-300

Main difference will be the number of engines with the Boeing having 4 and the Airbus 330-300 having 2.

The 747 is much bigger, carries more passengers, is faster, heavier and IMO, looks cuter!

i never like the name "airbus". seems to down grade pilot's status. as if to tell us flying the plane is nothing more than driving a bus! but there's a lot of difference actually. workload is one! luckily they didn't name any space shuttle as "spacebus"... how would the astronauts feel?
