Your veterinarian can advise you which dog food to use and how much to offer each day. I am sorry your dog is having this problem. I know you will give him good care and he will still be a wonderful pet for you. All he really cares about is your love!

I work at a pet store and there several brands of pet food that are made lite to help dogs lose weight. I also have a lab. He is two and also has hip displaysia. Right now he is only about three pounds overweight so I am not to worried but I am going to switch to the lite food any way to keep it that way. Your dog may not like the lite food because it has less fat and makes it less tasty than the fatty flavors of regular food but don't give into him. He'll it when he is hungry. feed half a bowl once or twice a day. Also cut back on treats that are moist these are very fatty and just cutting back on these will help greatly. Try instead lite hard treats they are again less fatty. Good luck.

if you know someone with a pool or a creek somewhere than get in it! This is the best type of exercise for dogs with joint problems because it's low impact!
