I've been taking Phentermine from an online pharmacy of 15 mg a day for the last month or so. My Psychiatrist scribed me 30mg Cymbalta today and I forgot to tell him about the phentermine. I left him a vcml - but he has yet to get back to me. I want to take the medication tonight like he told me to, (but did take my phentermine this morning) already.... Can I still take the Cymbalta? Will someone please clarify one or BOTH are MAOI'S???

Call the pharmacy and call your doctor in the am, please wait for his call.
IT is illegal for a medical professional to give advice w/o being your perscribing doctor.
wish i could help you.

I personally know many people who have had lots of problems with Cymbalta, and getting off that cymbalta is very hard, and phyically painful.
Ask your doctor about side effects, and what will happen if and when you decide to go off this medicine.

It sounds like your Doctor needs to know ALL medications you are on.

Please WAIT!!
Call a 24 hour pharmacy, they can tell you if your first medicine is MAOI
Cymbalta is not MAOI -- it's an SSRI and N----- med it's strong
too strong for the people i have known that have taken it
here is the cymbalta webstie www.depressionhurts.com

phentermine is a stimulant and cymbalta it's an SNRI for serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor not an MAOI. It's a shame you didn't remember to tellyour Doc aobut the phentermine and he may not have had to perscribe the cymbalta until you elemaneted the phentermine to see if that was causing your symptoms. SNRIs and stimulants are not normally prescribed together as the stimulants are known to excerbate mental health problems. Although it is not likely to be a problem if you have the phentermine in your system and take your cymbalta but don't continue both on a regular basis. Good Luck

call a 24 hour pharmacy or the pharmacy where you go the Cymbalta for your own peace of mind, how ever I am a pharmacy tech the Cymbalta would be flaged in the pharmacy of other medications that you could not take with it if there were any, but talk to a local pharmacy until you are able to talk to your doctor.
