I'm designing my sister's wedding shower invitation, and I have no idea what is 'normal' for it. Are they usually folded once like a card or twice and sectioned in 3 columns? Is there a traditional size and layout? I want to make this as traditional as possible and the design fun and creative. I'm not sure where to start. Any info would be so helpful, thanks!

Shower invitations typically are not a folded sort of invitation, rather a single "page" of card stock, with all the info on one page. They are usually much less formal than a wedding invite (hence the singular page layout). You can make them the sort that are folded, but I don't see the need for you to section it out onto different pages, since there isn't all that much to a shower invite:

Please join us for Mary's Shower
12 PM
Saturday May 15, 2007
Mark's Grill
101 Main Street
Springfield NY

RSVP by April 10

That's really all the info you need. It would look a little weird if the info was spread out onto different pages.

There isn't a normal size. Just check with the post office website for mailing size restrictions, so that you can use a regular stamp. For example, square cards are more money. I've seen folded cards and panel cards, but they're always more fun than the invitations. However, I've never seen a trifold (sectional) one.

There is no tradition when it comes to shower invites. If you want ideas, go to your local Hallmark store and look at the pre-made ones they have there. See if any of Hallmark's designs spark some ideas of your own. Good luck!

And email me if you need some fun wedding shower games to play!! I've played hostess and participant at many wedding showers!
