A PADI open water 5 day intensive course usually ends up at about 200 to 300 euro.

You can also do it over several weeks at weekends etc to spread out the cost

In the Toronto area it can be anywhere from 200-300 Canadian dollars to PADI open water. That's including use of all gear except mask/snorkel/fins.

I taught myself in 1955. I was 14. There was no such thing as PADI or any of the other rip-off programs then. A 72' tank and regulator, along with mask and fins cost about $100. That's for new gear, by the way, not used. Ah, the good ol' days!

In Missouri, you can get 3 days of classroom, 3 days of pool for $160, then the open water checkout is $100, but they require you to have your own mask, snorkel, fins, boots. the rest of the gear is provided, but you are responsible for transporting it to the lake, etc. Level 1 SSI
