Beside my house the people who wants to close the pit they use the waste to fill the pit. Is there any way to recover the sour & salty taste of my well water to normal.

you should always filter your water, they have light/UV filtration systems. Boil & filter. I also cant believe you still have well water & that too in Chennai? Such a big city, but that's India!

Now is 2007 I cannot imagine you guys are still drinking well water. Do you have a government to look after the welfare of yours? You should stop drinking well water at all cause because nowadays there are more pollution than those olden days. Talk to your president or prime minister.
