"If I try and fail, that means I'm not good enough- I don't deserve these things I want."

Some other reasons people give for not even trying to reach their dreams....

"Maybe I'm just being prideful" (From a family that had just moved into a larger home....)

"Am I being selfish to want these things?" (I've been accused of this one.. and they didn't even know what it was I felt/know I deserve...)

"It's not in my personality to do that kind of thing." (I KNOW this one is large amounts of bovine excrement- I know the most quiet reserved people who have simply decided that they wanted the dream badly enough to do it anyway.)

Because often rejection, or failure, means a great deal. Say for me, I would really like to be a professional musician. I'm a guitarist, I'm actually more talented than most guitarists in the industry today, but because making it in the industry has little to do with talent and more about image and playing the cliche mainstream simple music that every listens to, if I went out and spent more of my time than I am now for years trying to make it in the industry, what would I have left if I didn't get a record deal?

For some dreams, some people take a big leap of faith, and it takes a big deal out of their life, but only a few make it. I wish I had the courage to take that chance. I have a lot of emotion and pain from my past I'd love to let out and try to let people understand.

If someone has low self confidence or doesn't have a strong support system, then the fear of failure can be terrifying.

I have virtually zero confidence when it comes to approaching women. First of all, I don't know how to read the signals to know when my approach might be welcome, and I've had enough rejection in my life to feel it's the most likely outcome. Being alone is kind of miserable, but at least it's predictable. And there is some comfort in that predictability. And when it comes down to it, I would rather stick with what I know than put myself out there and chance rejection.

When someone has been rejected all the time. they don't think they can do anything right. the fear is way to much for some people. I have been rejected all my life. and It is very hard to start to trust your own judgement. and it's hard to learn to trust yourself when ALL your life you have been told your worthless

People fear rejection. No one wants to be out in the cold. The fear of that makes us miss out on allot of opportunities.

It is just the general mind-set that has evolved into the modern generations. It will always be like that.
