Good or bad ?

As the answers have shown it's a bit of both, especially long term. I'm German, my husband is English, so the cultural differences are minimal. I am very settled here in the UK and I love my husband, but I still miss my family & friends (especially when illnesses, weddings & funerals happen) and it's sad for the kids that their grandparents are so far away. Most holidays we go over there, so it doesn't really feel like a real holiday and I'm too scared to even add up the amount of money we have spent by now travelling over there. But the kids grow up bilingual and are very excited to feel "at home" in 2 different countries.

All I can say is that there are very real difficulties, but if you really love each other you deal with them and you'll be able to make it work. Just be realistic & appreciate the sacrifices the partner makes, who lives away from home. Have fun & good luck! :)

There is nothing wrong with marrying someone of a different nationality. Challenges exist in every relationship and this has nothing to do with where one comes from. The saying is true "Love conquers all"

I can't see why it would matter although people do seem to let different cultures and religions get in the way of love.

If you love someone then that should be good enough.

If the woman is a non-Westerner, marrying her will most likely put you at an advantage. Plus, it would give you two plenty to talk about. It would also be very entertaining to do activities from both your cultures.

Very Challenging!

My midwestern mom married my straight off the boat from Italy dad, and they encountered plenty -o- struggle.
And he spoke excellent english, that really wasnt the problem.

If you love each other, then it won't matter. The only difference is the culture. So go for it mate.

'Er indoors' is Thai and she is great. BUT, communication is sometimes a problem.
I miss being able to converse about all sorts of things that sadly she hasn't a clue about, and then there are the 'Misunderstandings'..........
Oh Boy, can they get one into trouble!

It is fine, as long as you are in love for real. But one important thing is making peace with parents, most wont welcome the issue of mixed marriages. The least you could do is get their blessing

very good, my parents did it, and it gives you advantages such as having two nationalities, travelling the two countries you're from without problems.
